Ruqayyah bint Muhammad رضي الله عنها
Emigrant to Abyssinia
When persecution in Makkah grew unbearable, the Prophet ﷺ allowed some of the Muslims to emigrate to Abyssinia, where a just king ruled. Among the first to go were 'Uthman and Ruqayyah — a daughter of the Prophet ﷺ leaving her father, her home and her people for an unknown land across the sea.
The biographers report that she bore 'Uthman a son, 'Abdullah, who died as a small child. She and 'Uthman later returned to Makkah, and when the command came to emigrate to Madinah, they left again. She is therefore counted among those who made both emigrations.
Ruqayyah left home twice for her faith; being the Prophet's daughter ﷺ spared her none of its hardships.
